Rock Paper Scissors

Rock Paper Scissors is a provably fair version of the classic game everyone knows. Choose rock, paper, or scissors and play against a random computer selection. Win to increase your multiplier, tie for a push, or lose your bet. The game supports multi-round streaks where you can compound wins across consecutive rounds for higher multipliers up to 1,027,604x. Its 2% house edge and dead-simple mechanics make it one of the most accessible games on Stake — no rules to learn, just pick and play.

How It Works

Rock Paper Scissors on Stake uses a provably fair system where the opponent choice is cryptographically determined before you make your selection. The server seed generates one of three outcomes with equal probability (33.33% each). The 2% house edge is applied through win payouts.

The game follows standard rules: rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock. Ties return your bet. With a 33.33% win rate, 33.33% tie rate, and 33.33% loss rate, the effective RTP is 98%. The simplicity of the game makes it ideal for quick, casual sessions.

Strategy Tips

Strategy
  • Each choice has an equal probability of winning since the opponent is randomly generated and provably fair. There is no pattern to exploit — rock is exactly as good as paper or scissors in every round. Bet management is the only real strategy.
  • From our testing of 300+ rounds, the most interesting aspect of RPS is the multi-round streak feature. Instead of playing single rounds at roughly 1.96x, you can chain consecutive wins for exponentially higher multipliers. A 3-win streak pays approximately 7x, while a 5-win streak pays around 30x. The probability of a 3-win streak is about 1 in 8 (12.5%), so it is not unreasonable to target these.
  • The honest reality is that RPS is one of the simplest games on Stake with a 2% house edge — identical to Flip in terms of expected value. The difference is purely aesthetic. If you enjoy the rock-paper-scissors format and want a nostalgic, quick-play experience, it delivers. For optimal expected value, you would be better off playing Dice or Crash at 1% house edge with the same simplicity.

No Pattern to Exploit

Since the opponent is randomly generated via provably fair algorithm, no choice is statistically better than another. Pick whatever you like — the odds are identical.

Set Win/Loss Limits

With even-money payouts and fast rounds, it is easy to play too many rounds. Set a profit target and stop-loss before starting. A 20% profit target with 30% stop-loss is reasonable.

Use for Bonus Wagering

The 98% RTP and simple mechanics make Rock Paper Scissors suitable for clearing wagering requirements with lower expected loss compared to higher-edge games.

Bankroll Management

Rock Paper Scissors has moderate volatility with binary outcomes. Keep bets at 2-5% of your bankroll since the even-money payouts mean losing streaks recover relatively quickly. Set a session limit of 50-100 rounds to avoid fatigue-driven decisions.
