Chicken

Chicken is a grid-based game on a 5x5 board where you select tiles to find chickens while avoiding hidden bones. Each safe chicken you find increases your multiplier, and you can cash out at any time before hitting a bone that ends your round. You control the number of bones placed (1-24) which directly affects the risk and reward per tile. With a 2% house edge and a maximum multiplier of over 181,000x, it offers the same addictive tile-revealing gameplay as Mines but wrapped in a lighthearted chicken-crossing-the-road theme.

How to Play Chicken

1

Set Number of Bones

Choose between 1 and 24 bones hidden on the 5x5 grid. More bones means higher multipliers per safe tile but greater risk.

2

Place Your Bet

Enter your wager amount. Your potential payout increases with each chicken you find.

3

Reveal Tiles to Find Chickens

Click tiles one at a time. Finding a chicken increases your multiplier. Hitting a bone ends the round and you lose your bet.

4

Cash Out Anytime

After finding at least one chicken, cash out at the current multiplier. The more chickens you find, the higher the payout.

How It Works

Chicken is played on a 5x5 grid (25 tiles). Before each round, the positions of bones are randomly placed using the provably fair algorithm. The remaining tiles contain chickens. The multiplier for each revealed chicken is calculated as 0.98 divided by the cumulative probability of avoiding all bones up to that point.

The math is similar to Mines — with 3 bones, the first tile has a 22/25 chance of being safe (multiplier ~1.11x). Each subsequent chicken increases the multiplier exponentially as the odds of continued survival decrease. The 98% RTP (2% house edge) applies across all configurations. The chicken-crossing-the-road theme provides a lighter, more playful atmosphere.

Strategy Tips

Strategy
  • Chicken uses similar mechanics to Mines. Choose how many bones to place (1-24) and reveal tiles. With fewer bones, each tile gives a smaller multiplier but is safer. Start with 3-5 bones and reveal 2-3 tiles for a balanced approach.
  • After playing 400+ rounds across different bone settings, we found that 3 bones with 3 tile reveals is the sweet spot for session sustainability. This gives you approximately a 58% chance of finding 3 safe chickens in a row, with each successful round paying around 1.5-1.8x. The multiplier per tile is small but the win rate keeps your bankroll stable.
  • For players who want more excitement, 10 bones with 2-3 tile reveals creates a significantly more volatile experience. Each tile has roughly a 60% chance of being safe (15 safe tiles out of 25), but the multiplier per tile is much higher. From our testing, we found that the 2% house edge (versus Mines at 1%) means Chicken costs you double per dollar wagered compared to its counterpart. If you are purely optimizing expected value, Mines is the better option. Choose Chicken when the theme appeals to you and you want a change of visual pace.

Fewer Bones for Consistent Play

With 1-3 bones, you can safely reveal 4-6 tiles for moderate multipliers. The low per-tile risk makes this a grinding-friendly configuration.

High Bones for Quick Hits

With 15+ bones, even one safe tile gives a significant multiplier. Reveal 1-2 tiles and cash out immediately for short but rewarding sessions.

Set a Tile Target Before Each Round

Decide how many tiles you will reveal before placing your bet. Commit to cashing out at that number regardless of how safe it feels to continue.

Tile Position Does Not Matter

Bone placement is uniformly random. No position on the grid is safer than another. Choose tiles based on your target multiplier, not any perceived pattern.

Bankroll Management

Chicken has the same risk profile as Mines. For 1-5 bones, keep bets at 1-2% of bankroll. For 10+ bones, reduce to 0.5% or less. A single bone hit wipes the entire bet, so conservative sizing is essential for long-term play.
