How to Play Darts
Place Your Bet
Enter your wager amount for the throw.
Choose a Target Section
Select which section of the dartboard you predict the dart will land on. Each section has a different multiplier based on its size.
Throw the Dart
Click to throw. The provably fair algorithm determines where the dart lands.
Collect If Correct
If the dart lands in your chosen section, you win the displayed multiplier. The bullseye pays the most but has the smallest target area.

How It Works
Darts divides the dartboard into sections of varying sizes, each assigned a multiplier inversely proportional to its area. Larger outer sections are easier to hit but pay less, while the bullseye and smaller inner sections are harder to hit but pay more. All multipliers are set so the expected value equals 98% of the bet (2% house edge).
The dart landing position is determined by a provably fair random number. The visual animation shows the dart flying to the board, but the outcome is pre-determined. This makes Darts functionally similar to roulette with a dartboard aesthetic.
Strategy Tips
- Like roulette, all sections have the same expected value with the house edge factored in. The outer sections win more frequently with lower payouts, while the bullseye wins rarely but pays the most. Choose based on your volatility preference.
- After playing 300+ rounds of Darts, we found the experience is very similar to Wheel in terms of gameplay feel — you are essentially choosing a volatility level and letting the random outcome play out. Betting on the outer ring gives you the most consistent returns with wins on roughly 40-50% of throws. Betting on the bullseye is a high-risk play that requires patience — in our testing, we went 150+ throws without hitting it.
- The 2% house edge is in line with many other Stake originals but higher than Dice, Crash, and Limbo at 1%. Darts is best enjoyed as a visual entertainment game rather than a grinding tool. If you enjoy the dartboard aesthetic and want a game that feels different from the usual number-crunching experience, Darts delivers. For pure expected value optimization, choose a lower-edge game instead.
Outer Sections for Grinding
Betting on larger outer sections gives frequent wins with low multipliers. This is the most sustainable approach for extended sessions.
Bullseye for High Risk
The bullseye offers the highest multiplier but wins least often. Only bet on the bullseye with a small fraction of your bankroll that you can afford to lose repeatedly.
Mix Your Targets
Alternating between safe outer bets and occasional bullseye shots can balance excitement with sustainability. Allocate 80% of bets to outer sections and 20% to inner targets.

Darts has medium volatility that varies with your section choice. For outer section bets, use 2-3% of bankroll per throw. For bullseye bets, drop to 0.5-1%. The visual appeal of the game can encourage rapid play, so set a round limit per session.
